The brain behind Brainy
ABOUT · BEHAVIOR UNSCRIPTED
An RBT in a mission to translate behavior science for every family and clinician that needs it.
Hello!
My desire to create Behavior Unscripted came from the quiet, difficult hours spent in the clinic as an RBT, struggling to handle challenging behaviors and wondering if I was truly helping. In those early weeks, I felt overwhelmed by the gap between the textbooks and the human being in front of me. I realized that "struggling" wasn't a failure—it was a sign that something was missing in the way we talk about autism.
Through that struggle, I started thinking of myself as a translator for a language I learn more about every single day. I saw firsthand how parents were left in the dark and how clinicians were burnt out by jargon that didn't help them in the heat of a meltdown. I wanted to take the power of behavior science and make it genuinely accessible—stripping away the scripts to focus on the person. Brainy was born from the drive to make everyone informed enough to cope with the hard days while understanding how autistic minds and bodies actually work.
My goal is to build a community where caregivers and autistic people can be open about the struggles and the small wins. This disability needs further investigation and deeper empathy, not just more compliance. Whether you are a parent crying in the parking lot or a clinician trying to find a better way, you belong here. We are fighting for a future with more accommodations, where behavior is heard as the communication it has always been.
How Brainy Works: The Program Bible
The Number One Rule: Communication
When I entered this field, I quickly learned that progress has a single gatekeeper: Communication. It isn’t just about the programs we run; it’s about the support system around the child. For a protocol to be efficient, every person—from the parent at home to the teacher in the classroom—has to be speaking the same language.
It sounds restrictive, but in the "unscripted" world of autism, consistency is the only way forward.
The Roadmap to Consistency
I don't just "show up" for sessions; I design a Roadmap. With my BCBA’s approval, I create what I call the Program Bible—a binder of materials, charts, and guides designed to travel with the client.
What’s inside a Program Bible?
Alternative Strategies: Instead of "don't chase him" (which can trigger behaviors), we provide a functional alternative that grounds him.
Clear Protocols: Simple instructions like, "Please make her ask with her device before going to the playground," ensuring her voice is always heard.
The Replacement Guard: This binder ensures that even if I have to call out, my replacement can peak at the roadmap and immediately know what works and what doesn't.
Brainy’s Goal: To ensure everyone is aligned. When the clinic, the home, and the school move in the same direction, the child finds their voice faster.
